No One Cares About Crazy People
Dir: Gail Freedman
With a fusion of intimate storytelling and broad reportage, No One Cares About Crazy People is an immersive deep dive into the crisis and chaos of severe mental illness (SMI) in America.
This documentary humanizes the face of SMI with a small cast of memorable characters, followed in real time over several years, as they -- and also their families -- navigate a system that too often seems to conspire against them. The historic roots of this national crisis are traced, as well as the emergence of bold but controversial activism that seeks to reinvent those failed policies.

I’ll Be Your Ghost
Dir: Deirdre Jane Rundle
In this stop-motion music video, singer-songwriter Deirdre Jane Rundle presents a portrait of transition, self-acceptance, and the complex relationship between one's past and present self.
Rundle wrote the song “I’ll Be Your Ghost” to engage in a dialogue with her past self, which germinated into the concept for this music video in which she depicts herself interacting with past versions of herself, offering the comfort and encouragement she wishes she had experienced back then.
This project required her to not only look at but creatively interpret the same photos she once struggled to accept as being of her, and the process of cutting pictures of herself into pieces and putting them back together as characters to animate provided a profound feeling of ownership over these images and a sense of continuity of self over time.

Spirit Moves: Me & Gee Gee Willie
Dir: Yuriko Lee
This culturally rich and unique story was crafted and brought into life by Pacific Northwest film artists and actors who could relate to the young female protagonist, Sailor (whose great grandfather was a legendary Japanese Hawaiian martial artist named Gee Gee Willie).
Japanese-born American writer/director, Yuriko, wanted to create a film, depicting people who practice kendo in America as they are underrepresented in the entertainment industry despite the fact that samurai movies have been always popular in the Western world.
This is not merely a sword fighting film. It is about how kendo teaches us to be strong not only physically, but more internally, through the eyes of Sailor who struggles with her identity and self-worth. Facing the reality of life where she is treated unfairly, her kendo buddy, Jake, encourages her to be herself by continuing training in kendo. But, it is an unexpected encounter that forces her to realize that the strength has been within her and it just had to emerge.
