General. By using this website you agree to all Oregon Independent Film Festival Rules, Regulations, Terms, and Conditions; including all Rules, Regulations, Terms & Conditions listed on any pages of this website, as well as agreeing to any and all Rules, Regulations, Terms, and/or Conditions listed on the Oregon Independent Film Festival submission page on the website FilmFreeway.
By submitting a work to the festival you are agreeing to all the rules and terms on this page as well as on any additional pages on this website, in addition to any and all Rules, Regulations, Guidelines, Terms, and/or Conditions set forth on the Oregon Independent Film Festival event-listing page on FilmFreeway or other Film Submission service site used by the festival to accept submitted projects.
Eligibility. You must be 18 years of age or older (or have a parent or guardian to submit on your behalf) to enter the competition. Entered scripts or films must not have been previously been sold or produced and must be original work of the author or authors. Multiple authorship may be allowed. The Oregon Independent Film Festival reserves the right to determine the eligibility of any project or film submitted.
Submission Format. Submit film and screenplay projects via FilmFreeway (or other festival submission service) using a secure online screener. All Submissions must be in English or have English subtitles. Filmmakers may not send additional, updated or revised versions of submitted films or scripts unless they re-submit and pay separate fees.
Submission Fees are non-refundable, regardless of if a project wins or does not win an award or contest related to the festival. Filmmakers who postmark submissions or mail prints after the deadline submitted under may be subject to additional fees in order for their film to be considered, with any original fees being considered non-refundable.
Deadlines and Fees. Deadlines are postmark deadlines. If accepted to screen, make sure to have your film in the mail with all fees paid by the deadline date to be considered for screening or review. To have a film reviewed and judged for potential screening make sure all fees are paid by the submission date to be considered for screening review. Submission Fees are non-refundable, regardless of if a project is accepted or rejected for screening or awards.
Screening Process. All films are viewed in their entirety by three pre-screeners and films with average pre-screener grades of C or better are next sent to three or more screeners for additional review, the films with the best screener reviews and grades are given to the Board Of Directors and Festival Programmers for final program selection. Films submitted for review may be screened for multiple judges in a theater setting, if available. Judges may also view films privately.
Notifications. Check with the submission agency or website used (FilmFreeway, etc.) to see if your film has been marked as accepted by the Oregon Independent Film Festival. After the annual festival judging season concludes, following the end of the submission season results will be announced via email. Due to the volume of requests the festival cannot answer queries about films shipping and receiving status no earlier than three weeks after being submitted. Films sent without payment received for over ten days will be deleted and must be re-submitted with new fees paid under the current submission deadline.The festivals approximate final festival submission determinations will usually be decided in the Fall/Winter of each year. Check your own submission account on the Notification Date listed under the festival page on the submission service website FilmFreeway to see if your film or screenplay has been accepted. Judges, readers, and screeners decisions are final.
Festival Dates. The Oregon Independent Film Festival is generally held between August and October each year, in multiple cities across Oregon state, culminating with screening events in Eugene, and/or Bend, and/or Portland, Oregon.
Cancellations. All festival events and screenings may be subject to cancellation or rescheduling due to unforeseen issues and events and acts of god etc. Screening times and venues are subject to delay or change. Festival dates are subject to change.
Print Delivery. Once a film has been selected for presentation at the festival, filmmakers may be asked to send an Exhibition Copy for screening. Have this version ready to send to us the conclusion of judging season as there is a small window for receipt of Exhibition Copies.
Loss And Damage. The Oregon Independent Film Festival cannot accept or assume responsibility in the event of loss or damage. Submissions will not be returned. Do Not send originals.
Right Of Service. The Oregon Independent Film Festival reserves the right to refuse service to anyone. Any submitter causing a disruption or acting aggressively, disrespectfully or threateningly to any volunteers, staff or employee of the festival may have their film or screenplay pulled from exhibition at any time without refund and be denied re-entry to any festival events.
Submission Materials. Submitted materials become the property of the Oregon Independent Film Festival and may not be returned. By sending materials to the Oregon Independent Film Festival, you are acknowledge the Oregon Independent Film Festivals right to screen your film or project at least one time in the next year at our Film Festival as well as acknowledging the festivals right to copy and use any press materials sent to market your screening as well as the festival itself in perpetuity.
Use of Materials. By submitting you are also acknowledging the right to allow Oregon Independent Film Festival use of images and clips from your film or project for the next to 90 months - either on the festival website or in our press materials to promote our festival and events. The festival is not authorized to create any commercial use reproductions of your film, nor to screen your film beginning two weeks after the conclusion of the festival for the season in which your film was submitted.
Non-Participation. If a film is accepted to screen at the festival, the submitter will have two weeks to notify the festival if they do not want a screening of the accepted film. By entering the festival you are giving the festival the right to screen your film in any version the festival sees fit to screen.By entering you are acknowledging that if the festival is not notified within two weeks from the date the festival sends the submitter an email notification of acceptance, that the submitted film can and will be programmed and screened at the upcoming Oregon Independent Film Festival. Any requests to pull an accepted film from the festival may be denied by the festival, and any requests for removal made after two (2) weeks from the date of the first sent acceptance email notification, may not be considered.
Agreement. Make sure to read all of the Terms & Conditions listed on this website as well as all of the Rules & Regulations on this page - as by using this website and/or submitting any project, film, or screenplay to the Oregon Independent Film Festival you are agreeing to abide by all our Terms, Conditions, Rules and Regulations.
Failure to comply with any and all of the Oregon Independent Film Festival guidelines, rules, regulations, terms, conditions, or eligibility may be cause for disqualification from the festival and/or removal from the festival and any festival-associated events.
If submitting a project via FilmFreeway or any other submission service the submitter (as well as all parties related to the submitted project) are additionally agreeing to all of the Terms, Conditions, Rules and Regulation on this website as well as any and all Oregon Independent Film Festival Rules, Regulations, Terms, and Conditions as written on the Oregon Independent Film Festival’s FilmFreeway page.
Indemnity. By entering this competition (or by using this website) all entrants and/or users release any hold the Oregon Independent Film Festival, its Board of Directors, Founders, Officers, Staff, Contract Workers, and Volunteers may have regarding any and all losses, damages, rights, claims, and/or actions of any kind - whether arising in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from use of the festival website and/or from any participation with or participation or attendance at the festival and adjacent festival events, and also release any hold the Oregon Independent Film Festival, its Board of Directors, Founders, Officers, Staff, Contract Workers, and Volunteers may have regarding any and all losses, damages, rights, claims, and/or actions of any kind whether arising in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from participation or attendance at, or submission or collaboration with, any festival related event or from submission or participation in any festival-related competition or contest.
